Cinematic Field Guide is a working reference for lighting and camera decisions, collecting photometric units, exposure, color temperature, and cross-engine light-intensity values for Octane, Redshift, and Unreal Engine 5.
The project is built as a practical cheat sheet for moving between real-world cinematography language and digital lighting systems. It gathers the values that tend to get scattered across notes, docs, and renderer-specific habits: lumens, lux, nits, exposure behavior, color temperature, and equivalent light settings across engines.
Instead of treating the information as a plain table, Cinematic Field Guide presents it as a dense reference interface. Lighting categories, camera values, real-world fixture examples, and renderer translations are organized into a dark technical surface designed for quick comparison while building a shot.
The goal is to make lighting decisions feel less arbitrary across Octane, Redshift, and Unreal Engine 5. The guide gives artists a shared baseline for matching physical lights, evaluating exposure, and translating a cinematographer’s language into usable digital settings.
